offering scrumptious and lip smacking variety of crabs to the guests. Some of
the crab varieties are listed below:
Mud Crab
(Scylla Serata) – These are generally found in the muddy waters
that are shallow (less than 1 metre and can be up to 30 metres). The commonly
found varieties include brown, green and purple.
Soft
Shell Crab - These crabs shed their shells periodically for
proper growth. Each molt is associated with 33 percent and takes place once in a
month. For getting the ultimate eating experience those crabs are selected that
have shed the shell.
Alaskan
King Crab – These exist in three different species, namely
brown, red and blue. You can find these in different parts of the Alaskan
waters. Most of the King Crab is available in the Bering Sea. There are
fisheries in the southeast as well as Norton Sound. If you wish to enjoy the
actual taste of this crab then it is recommended that it is served chilled with
mayonnaise. Most of the harvesting of the Alaskan crab takes place for three
weeks every year at sub-zero temperatures (October and January). After the
harvest, these crabs are cooked in clean water on the boat. After that these
are snap frozen in the special blast freezers. The meat is salty and sweet,
succulent and snow-white in colour. It is also known to have coral-like
highlights of dazzling red.
